Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effect of compost fertilizer application on oil palm fronds on the growth of arecanut (Areca catechu L). This research was conducted in the experimental field of campus two Batanghari University Jambi (Pijoan), this research was carried out for three monts from October to January 2022. Soil analysis was carried out at the Jambi Province Environmental Service LaboratoryThe research design used was a one factor completely randomized design (RAL). The treatment given was palm frond compost (k) with four treatment levels, including; k 0 (control), k 1 (50 g/polybag), k 2 (100 g/polybag), k 3 (150 g/polybag) each treatment level consisted of three replications so that twelve treatment plots were obtained. Each plot consisted of five plants so that the total number of plants was sixty seedlings. The number of samples in each experimental plot eas four plants. The results showed that oil palm midrib compost had a significant effect on plant height, stem diameter, shoot dry weight and root dry weight. The highest betel nut plant height was found in treatment k 3 of 65,78 cm, an increase of 45,08% compared to k 0. The diameter of the highest plant stem was obtained from k 3 of 1,36 cm an increase of 23,63% compared to k 0 . The increase in dry weight of the highest plant canopy was optained from k 3 of 85,10 g an increase of 107,25% compared to k 0 . The highest increase in root dry weight was found in ky of 29,13 g or an increase of 146,65% compared to the treatment of k 0.
