Abstract
ABSTRACK In the cultivation of areca nut, various factors are very decisive. Planting must be done in a place that is in accordance with the conditions for growth, it will have a good impact so as to produce optimal growth and production. To support the success of areca nut development, especially areca nut nurseries, it is necessary to have adequate maintenance activities in nurseries. One of the maintenance activities is fertilizing which aims to add nutrients needed by plants. Ultisol soils have several obstacles that can inhibit plant growth, one of which is in the chemical properties of the soil such as acidic to very acidic soil reactions (pH 3.10 – 5), low to very low organic C (0.13% - 1, 12%), low total N (0.09 – 0.18%), low macronutrients such as P, K, Ca and Mg, high Al saturation > 60% which is toxic to plants, cation exchange capacity (CEC) and base saturation (KB) low to very low. One way to overcome the above problems is to use cow dung into organic fertilizer. This research was conducted because it wanted to see how the Effect of Cow Manure Compost Fertilizer on the Growth of Betara Betel (Areca catechu L.) Seedlings on Ultisol Soil Planting Media in Polybags. The number of plant samples taken in this study were 4 plants.
