Abstract
Reading is a fundamental skill for English language learning; however, many high school students continue to face challenges in developing adequate reading ability. This research aimed to examine the effect of the Readable Application on improving students’ reading ability at SMA Negeri 11 Jambi City. Employing a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design, the research involved one class of 30 eleventh-grade students in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were collected through multiple-choice reading tests administered before and after the intervention. The findings showed a significant improvement in students’ performance, with the mean score increasing from 38.43 in the pre-test to 79.73 in the post- test. These results demonstrate that the Readable Application effectively enhanced students’ reading ability by supporting vocabulary growth and fostering active engagement with texts. In conclusion, the research highlights the potential of integrating digital applications like Readable into classroom practices to improve students’ reading outcomes. Future studies are suggested to involve larger samples, extended periods, and diverse student groups to explore the broader impact of digital reading tools.
