Abstract

Matahari Department Store Jambi / Supervisor I Sakinah AS, S.E., M.M / Supervisor II M. Emil, S.E., M.M The purpose of this study was to describe the motivation and performance of employees at PT. Matahari Department Store Jambi, and to analyze the influence of motivation on employee performance at PT. Matahari Department Store Jambi. The data used in this study were primary data obtained through the distribution of questionnaires. This study uses sampling. Population of Employees of PT. Matahari Department Store was taken as a sample of 67 respondents. Based on the results of the study that work motivation has a significant effect on the performance of members partially. Based on the results of Adjusted R Square of 0.539 which shows the contribution of the independent variable, namely work motivation X can explain the dependent variable, namely employee performance by 53.9% while the remaining 46.1%, explained by other variables that are not in the research regression model. The conclusion of the partial test is that work motivation has a significant effect on employee performance at PT. Matahari Department Store Jambi, this is evidenced by the value of t count > t table (4.726 > 1.66864) Further researchers are expected to be able to conduct research with a longer period of more than 5 years and it is hoped that furthermore they can use other methods or analytical tools in order to get maximum results and can be taken into consideration.
