Abstract

Febri Hendrazal. 2018. The Use of Power Point as Teaching Media Toward Students Ability in Writing at Tenth Grade of SMAN 11 Jambi Academic Year 2017/2018. A Thesis of English Education Study Program in the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Batanghari University Jambi. The First Advisor Dr. Suyadi, S.Pd., M.A and The Second Advisor Nurul Fitri, S.S. M.Hum. Key Word: Teaching media, Power Point. The objective of the research is to find out whether there is any significant difference in the advertisement test among the tenth grade students of SMAN 11 Jambi who are taught using Power Point as media and those who are not in the academic year 2017/2018. This study involved 66 students as experimental group, and class X Ipa 3 (33 students) as control group. Data were collected through administrative ad tests for both groups. Pre test was administered in both groups before treatment and post test was given at the end of treatment. Normality, homogeneity and t test are done manually. The result shows theoretically in testing the hypothesis, Criteria testing is accept Ha if t arithmetic > t table, for other prices Ha rejected so that H0 accepted. The degrees of freedom for the list of distribution t is (n1 + n2-2) with probability (1-α), to the real level α = 0.05. if the value of the level of significance is lower than 0.05, the alternative hypothesis is accepted. In reference to the data analysis, the result show that t arithmetic 2928.407479 > 1.69552 t table. It means that the use of PowerPoint has significant influence on the students’ advertisement test. Therefore, the hypothesis of “there is a significant difference on the advertisement test between students who are taught by using PowerPoint and those who are not” is accepted.
