Abstract

ABSTRACT The title of the study is "The Effect of the Work Environment on Teacher Performance at SMP Negeri 20 Jambi City". The purpose of this study is to determine and describe the work environment and performance of teachers of SMP Negeri 20 Jambi City. And to know and analyze the influence of the work environment on the performance of teachers of SMP Negeri 20 Jambi City. A work environment consisting of a comfortable workspace will make the working atmosphere more comfortable. There are many factors that affect the quality of a teacher, both internal and external factors. SMP Negeri 20 Jambi City is a basic level of formal education in Indonesia that is taken after graduating from elementary school (or equivalent). Its management is under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbud). SMP Negeri 20 Jambi City has 43 teachers and 578 students in total. The methods in the research used are descriptive and quantitative analysis methods. The source of the data was SMP Negeri 20 Jambi City then continued with the distribution of the Respondent Questionnaire. Descriptive analysis methods provide a systematic structure and organization of data and objective answers and data are displayed in the form of an average scale range. The t test is used to test the significant effect between the independent variable X (work environment) on the dependent variable Y (performance). The population in this study was all teachers and employees of SMP Negeri 20 Jambi City totaling 43 people. Partially, the hypothesis used in this test. In the Physical Environment assessment also has an excellent rating with an average score of 184.6. In the physical environment dimension, the highest assessment score is work equipment with a score of 212, while the non-physical environment has the highest assessment score on indicators of motivation and work rewards. Meanwhile, the influence of the work environment on performance at SMP Negeri 20 Jambi City based on partial statistical tests and linear regression tests obtained a linear test value of Y = 1.097 + 0.846 X which states that environmental regression efficiency has a positive direction towards performance so that the calculated value is greater than 9,936>2,019.
